INTERVIEW
Interviews on reasons for joining our company
The young leaders of Setsubi Giken did not start as passionate, leadership talents.
We asked them about their reasons for joining Setsubi Giken, which is a question we can only ask them now.

Joining the company was a no-brainer! You can too!

There happened to be an opening!
I worked in the mainland for about two years, gaining skills and knowledge there. I was looking for a place where I could put the skills and knowledge I had acquired there to the test in Okinawa. I happened to hit upon a match when I searched for “Okinawa equipment” on the Internet and made an inquiry. Before I knew it, I had been with the company for seven years. It was a coincidence that I joined the company, but I am sure that this was a perfect opportunity for me.

I never even thought about quitting!
It's fun! Anyway, I am delegated to handle the work, and the authority I am given is large! I am fulfilled by the opportunities to challenge myself in all aspects, including communication with the company and related companies, and skilled technicians. I am gaining confidence with each project I can take on with responsibility.
What makes me happy is that the company has the attitude to evaluate me based on my abilities. I feel the importance of setting my own goals and taking the initiative!
Besides a minimal sense of responsibility, you don’t need anything more!
After I joined the company, I realized that only one minimum requirement was essential in this company. It is a sense of responsibility. Not an immense sense of responsibility. You are not suddenly expected to take responsibility for delivering a multi-million yen job as soon as you join a company. If you can take responsibility for the following small but essential things, such as meeting the project deadlines and promptly communicating and seeking advice when something unexpected happens at the site, this company will accept you in a significant way and will give you opportunities to do more and more.
I feel that at this company I have learned the basics of being a responsible person, such as not blaming others and doing what I can do on my own!
I was always a lazy person!
Maybe you are the same way! I'm with you!

I can say what I want to say!
That's very important!

It’s okay to go all out!
A company that will allow you to do it yourself.
If you want to know and learn from scratch, or if you want to try it out first, we are here to help you. Setsubi Giken has the power to recognize such urges.
The construction of a building is completed through the cooperation of various companies. The work of installing water supply and drainage pipe equipment is combined with the work that each contractor is responsible for. In the process, I feel a strong sense of satisfaction and enjoyment in how installing plumbing equipment aligns with and functions with the work of the various contractors.

Reasons for joining the company
I had been in charge of construction site management work at another company. Still, I kept changing jobs for various reasons. I thought that if I continued like this, I would develop strange working habits, and it would be unwise to become someone who could not continue working wherever I went!。
It would be great if I could manage a construction site with a thorough understanding of the technical skills of the technicians, which is why I joined Setsubi Giken.
Job Description
I manage construction work on each job site, including collecting quotations from technicians and other businesses for the work to be performed. I prepare budgets, request drawings from construction companies, create plumbing installation drawings, and arrange meetings to discuss the installation of drainage pipes and equipment. After meeting with the construction company to review the installation process, I request technicians to carry out the work and subsequently confirm the final profit. This entire process, from planning to final profit confirmation, is entrusted to me.
We never know who will fit in with the company!
You don't know a person's personality and talent until you work with him or her, and you realize it as you work, so I don't have many expectations about the kind of person I would like to see here. Even if a person is not talkative, he/she may be a good match for the company, experience does not guarantee a good match with the company. First, we want you to have a sense of what it's like to work with us, and we are waiting for you!
I was narrow-minded, but this job has helped me grow. You can
You can improve your ability to think and act!

The consideration for inexperienced workers is on par with a hospitality hotel!

The company's selling point...
Not much (laughs)!
I'm sure I'll offend the company if I say so (laughs), but this company is so relaxed and open-minded that I can even say this jokingly.
Of course, we must deal with a lot of people on site, and the work is always a hazardous one, so there are many areas where we must be cautious.
However, if that is all you do, you cannot keep up physically and mentally. What is excellent about Setsubi Giken is that the company creates an environment where it is easy to voice your opinions, makes work comfortable, and allows smooth communication at the work site!

All I wanted was help!
My previous job was in sales in a completely different field, and I found it a bit of a burden on my mind to think that this environment of competition with quotas and competitiveness among salespeople would continue forever, and I honestly thought, “Help me!” (laugh)
I was looking for a place where I fit in and a work style that suits me, and when I found out about Setsubi Giken, I decided to join the company because it was an industry I had never worked in before, and I thought the new experience would lead to my growth! Before I realize, it’s been 7 years, and I think it fits me!
It's OK if you don't know the name of any tools!
I myself joined the company not knowing the name of a single tool.
What helped me was that there was no “steal and learn” atmosphere!
There is a mentoring process where you can learn a certain amount of knowledge as a technician before you become a site manager.
The crucial moment was the third year!
The site size, the number of people involved, the total construction time, and everything else were off the charts. The experience of being entrusted with this project, really gave me a great sense of confidence! It would be a lie to say that it was not difficult, and that there was no conflict with the people around me, but through it all, this experience made me realize that “work is only possible when there is support from the other team members”. This encounter led me to a positive growth!
Let's learn! You'll get paid more!
Don't be nervous about the job interview!

The care for the newcomers is similar to that of a hospitality hotel!

Setsubi Giken will probably be golden age within 3 years!
Not just that, I want to make money. Once I started to think that I wanted to grow with my colleagues and break through obstacles together with them, I became more aware of my role as a leader. I feel a stronger sense of unity among the members of my generation, as they have been in the company for 5 to 7 years and are now in a position to train and lead others. By working with these mid-career leaders, I look forward to seeing Setsubi Giken become a company that can do a compelling job in the prefecture, both in reputation and accomplishment, in the next three years!

I didn't start in the construction department.
I hoped to work in the quantity surveying department, in an air-conditioned room facing a computer. Still, during my job interview, I was asked, “Did you do well in CAD (computer-aided design software)? This led to another interview at a later date. The second interview was the final interview to send me to the construction department!
Over two years, I was slowly trained in drawing blueprints using CAD, preparing documents, and making applications, and I was entrusted with more and more management duties.
Honestly, it was not my intention to be assigned to this position, but as I got to know the working environment, I enjoyed and found the work fascinating.
For the rest of my life, I could tell people, “I worked on this shopping mall!
When you work on the plumbing system of a large shopping center or building, it is fantastic to see the building after it is up and running.
I feel deeply excited when I see the building after it is in operation.
I feel proud seeing the building with so many people entering it.
My work has left its mark and is contributing to many people; as people believe first base players joining the team (joining the company) are the strongest, I think that!
I think people who can protect first base are the strongest in baseball.
I hope someone who can relate to this will join "our team" (our company).

INTERVIEW
You guys...
You've all grown up so much~ (crying)!
The young leaders of the Setsubi Giken were not passionate, leadership talents from the start. The management team department is impressed by their growth.

I am ashamed to admit that in the construction industry in the past, it was expected to experience frustrations such as not being able to raise your concerns with your supervisor, to be told to “learn by stealing” or “overtime is expected!
However, this will not bring people together, and we need to make a change! With this in mind, we are focusing on creating a work environment where people can work in a good mental and physical condition, placing the highest priority on employee relationships.
We are still not perfect in many areas, but we believe that we can become a better company by repeatedly making improvements as a united team.
